Time is the most precious thing in world which Allah has given to every human being equally. Nobody can complain that he has given less than twenty-four hours. It depends on us that how we spend it. Either we waste it or make it worth-full. Usually, most of us keep busy to ourselves mentally in considering either what we had lost in past or worrying about we have to face in future. Due to living in these two worlds, we find ourselves totally aloof in present. This condition of self-imposition of aloofness does not let us think of present at all. We keep busy in lamenting, instead of taking some actions in present which may ultimately affect the future. Through this way, decades of decades are wasted. It starts in such a way that one regrets on what one has lost in near past and in this way he keeps wasting time in present. Although, through making this time useful, one could amend some mishaps which had occurred in past. But, he does not give any attention on the time passing on. And through this way when that time passes, he starts crying for the loss of that time and it makes a chain and connecting to one another. A huge amount of time becomes having wasted. So, what is the best strategy to avoid this practice is to stop thinking abruptly about past's losses and future's fears. Fitzgerald translated couplets of Umer Khayyam in following way.
Come with old Khayyam and leave the wise
One thing is certain that life flies
One thing is certain other is lies
The flower once has blown, forever dies
In these couplets poet gives the resemblance to flower with the present time, which is destined to fade finally. So, wise is one who recognizes the importance of present and does not let the flower of "Present" fade anymore carelessly.
